Dorene's obituary

Dorene Denise Cummings, born as Dorene Denise Tressler, passed away on December 16, 2019 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. She is survived by her mother, Peggy-Ann Garcia, brothers Jeff Tressler and Jack Tressler Jr., and her sister Jewel Tressler. She joins her children's father, Randy E Cummings Sr. and her father Jack Tressler Sr., in Spirit. She passes her legacy to her children and grand children; her sons David, Randy and Walter; her daughters Juanita and Rachelle; her grand sons Dezmond, Devadre, Kanye, Judon, Antonio Jr., Joshua Jr. and Adon; her grand daughters Yasmine, Sky, Amari, Neema, and Shala. She leaves behind all her love & understanding, to all of her many extended family and cherished friendships.

She was born into a humble family, in Baltimore, MD- maiden name Tressler, with extended families' surnames being Spicer, Trout, and DeCarlo. She was a (1983) graduate of Kenwood High School. She was an initial US Air Force Enlistee (1984) and finally, a US Army Veteran. During her earlier years of service, she traveled the world, making some of her most memorable bonds in Seoul, Korea, and Frankfurt, Germany. She met the man she would marry and whom became the Father of her children, Randy, in New York (1988), as she became a Mother to his preexisting children.

She maintained a brilliant mind and humorous wit. She had a shy, beautiful smile, with piercing blue eyes of mystery and wonder. She was truly gifted- feeling so much of everyone and everything around her, which can often be isolating and lonely, yet she still found joy in the simplest pleasures that this physical life has to offer. She Mothered many, including many of her children's friends, and she kept her heart and mind as open as the ocean she loved so much. She loved music, poetry, reading, and will always be remembered for her continued endurance through trauma, illness, life's general lows and highs, and for her bravery to remain loving and compassionate when the world was not always so kind to her. She is the greatest example of how far one's faith can take you, and how amazing it is to watch a Spirit of resistance and survival touch so many lives. Dee, "Mama Dee", as better known by her closest bunch, will be truly missed and forever loved.
