I wrote this letter to my mother the day of her transition.

Letter To My Mom

I was 4 years old when you came into my life. You came right on in Cape & all....My very own super hero, you rescued me mom. You didn't birth me but you damn sure gave me life. From Jim Croche to Dave Mathews. From Marvin Gaye to D'Angelo .....the good times we shared. My eclectic taste in music & fashion, I fashioned from you. My professional phone voice all the way to my "turn up",  I fashioned from you. I remember when I came close to losing my life trying to bring your grandson into this world. You dropped everything & literally teleported to my side. You were the 1st one to lay eyes on Toni. No one was allowed to see him but you refused to take no for an answer. I can remember you spitting out orders to the staff & had the nurses standing at attention. Yup!! That's my Mom!!!

Super tough & was mean as a rattlesnake when it came to the ones you loved yet you could exercise the patience of a sensei in an instant.

You faced so many trials & tribulations in your life. I have never seen such strength & endurance. You taught me more than you know. You filled my life with so much joy. You loved me unconditionally. I am having the hardest time coming up with what to say because there are no words in the English dictionary to describe just how much I love you & what you mean to me.

They say you only get one but I was one of the lucky ones to have been blessed with 2. You are & have always been my mother. Not my step mom, but my Mama!

I am so grateful to the Universe for blessing me with you. You are truly one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. I still to this day find myself trying to figure out what exactly it was that I did to deserve you.

There will never be another like you mom. My Rock, My Heart.....My Hero.

Tell dad I said what's up. I know ya'll got our backs! Make sure y'all stay on Chelle about being punctual, get on Jay's ass about his music & send Dave on a vacation & soon. & please remind Walt & Jimmy that they're no longer in the military, they can relax.
