I was deeply shocked when I heard the news of Donald's passing. For more than 25 years as a Society member it was a great honour to me to know him. He was so open with his opinions and always very helpful with my questions and problems.
My thoughts and cordial feelings are with Maida and his children.
He will always in my heart and I am sure, that God will bless him in heaven.

Ruth and I are so saddened to hear of the passing of this kind, friendly, considerate gentleman who had a charisma that enabled him to meet, converse and show an interest in everyone and everything. One of my fondest memories is of backing him on guitar in the clan tent at Lochearnhead as he sang The Bonny Lass o' Fyvie. I can hear him yet. Rest in peace.

Donald will be greatly missed. Witty, thoughtful, inquisitive, and always mindful of others. A first class diplomat and a true champion of Scotland. RIP Donald.

With great shock, we learned about the sudden and tragic loss of our esteemed Clan Chief, Donald MacLaren of MacLaren and Achleskine. In these difficult hours, we would like to extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies.
Donald was not only a Clan Chief, an Ambassador, but also an exceptional individual, whose intellectual brilliance and sharp sense of humor held a special place in our hearts. His friendly demeanor and open nature always impressed us, making us feel welcome and valued.
We fondly recall the enriching conversations we had with him, as Donald possessed the rare gift of sharing his extensive knowledge with infectious enthusiasm. His witty humor never failed to bring a smile to our faces, making it easier to navigate even the toughest times.
His legacy as the Clan Chief of the Clan MacLaren will endure in the annals of history, but so will the memory of the extraordinary man he was, living on in our hearts. Donald's generous spirit and willingness to help others will forever serve as an inspiration.
In these dark hours, we offer our shoulders to lean on and want you to know that you are not alone. The world has lost a remarkable soul, and we grieve with you.
May the cherished moments you shared with Donald bring you comfort during this time of mourning. His legacy will live on in the stories we share about him and in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
With sincere solidarity and deep sorrow,
Michael Ruettger and Family

Saddened to hear of this loss to Clan MacLaren and to the family. As a Wood Badge Scout Leader, I can't say enough about the support that Donald and the entire clan has given, and continues to give, to Scouting through Wood Badge membership. I invite all Wood Badge Scout Leaders to pray for Donald's family, and for his son as he takes up the mantle of clan leadership.

With great sadness Eithne and I learned today of Donald’s passing. Our deepest sympathy and condolences to Maida, the family, and all of Clan MacLaren. Such a fine colleague and dear friend in the Foreign Office who worked with distinction on many postings overseas, including in Moscow, and Kyiv, and as British Ambassador to Georgia. You will be sorely missed by your many friends. Rest in Peace, Chief Donald.
