Our hearts and prayers go out to Maida and the children. We met Chief Donald in 1984 at the Savannah Georgia Highland Games. It was the start of a wonderful friendship through the years from traveling to many Highland Games where he was the Honored Guest to welcoming Donald and Maida into our home during many Stone Mountain Games and being welcomed at their home during our trip to Balquhidder in 2018. Was so glad we were together in 2022 at Stone Mountain. We will greatly miss Chief Donald. Until we meet again!!

It is with great sadness that we heard of the passing of clanchief Donald Maclaren of Maclaren. We hereby wish to offer our condolences to his family.
We are certain that the new chief Florian Maclaren and the Clan Maclaren Society will honour him by continuing his work.
My wife's family (McLaurin family from Australia) and I had the pleasure to meet the late clanchief at the 2016 Highland Games. This event also marked the 50th anniversary of his chieftainship.
During those days we were invited to the ancestral places of clan Maclaren and the Highland Games. We were able to meet many members of the Maclaren family who came from all over the globe.
Personally, these days were an absolute highlight which I will always remember and be grateful for. An extremely memorable moment were the Highland Games. Reluctantly at first, I took part in the hill race and lucky enough came 4th. And even though I only married into the McLaurin family Donald Maclaren later acknowledged my effort during the celebration at Balquhidder village hall. For me it showed that he had a great sense of sportsmanship and that he care and acknowledged people on both ends of the table.
May he rest in peace!
Craeg an Tuirc!
