Dolores's obituary
Dolores Julie Kloeckner, 94 years old, of Lockport, Illinois, died on October 14th, 2024, in her son’s home. Some people will know her by her nicknames, Dee or Grandma Dee.
She was born on February 14, 1930, to Carey and Marion Pettus in Chicago, Illinois, and attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School as a child.
She married Theodore Joseph Kloeckner on April 16, 1951. They had five sons and three daughters: Joseph, William, James, Mary, Catherine, Carol, Michael, and Daniel. She was divorced in 1974. Dolores enjoyed eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Over the years, she was a housewife, worked at a bakery and a restaurant, cleaned homes, laundered altar linens for St. Dennis Church, and had her own business making cakes for all occasions, especially wedding cakes. She sold furniture for over 20 years and retired from Polk Brothers in 1992.
In her younger days, Dolores was an avid bowler and schnauzer breeder. She was a diligent and faithful supporter of St. Dennis Band Boosters. Her favorite and cherished pastime was her flower garden. She came to love and care for many cats over the years.
Dolores is survived by her son James Kloeckner, daughter Mary Kohler, son Michael (Kristy) Kloeckner, son Daniel (Michelle) Kloeckner; grandchildren: Greg Brandon, Christopher (Julie) Kloeckner, Jason (Lisa) Kloeckner, Nicholas (Christine) Kloeckner, Jeremy (Caitlin) Kloeckner, Michelle Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Jeffrey (Tanya) Thomas, Carrie Smith, Rachael Palmer, Joshua (Marissa) Dennis, Lilah Kloeckner, Ian Kloeckner, and Sophia Kloeckner; great-grandchildren: Casey (McKayla) Kloeckner, Cirsten (Noah) West, Courtney Kloeckner, Gracie Wall, Olivia Wall, Eric Liacone, Brianna Kloeckner, Luke Kloeckner, Patrick Kloeckner, Callan Kloeckner, Audrey Kloeckner, Annalise Kloeckner, Adriana Kloeckner, Isabella Kloeckner, Ashley Thomas, Dezeray Peterson, Lillian Roth, Sydney Roth, Gwendolyn Wilson, Aiden Palmer, Brycen Valencia, River Gretz, Laila Dennis, Lexus Moore, Benjamin Moore, and Cora Moore; and great-great-grandchildren Meghan Kloeckner, Grayson Soverino, Raelynn Kloeckner, Landon West, Chesnei West, and Kendell Gettings.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clarence(Sonny)Pettus, son Joseph Kloeckner, son William Kloeckner, daughter Catherine Kloeckner(Catie), daughter Carol Kloeckner, granddaughter Jennifer Kloeckner, and great-grandson Benjamin Thomas.
It was her wish to have no wake or funeral services. Dolores’ body will be cremated by Illinois Cremation Centers.
