Dinah's obituary
Dinah Johnson Chance, 76, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024 in Salt Lake City at Spring Creek Healthcare Center.
Dinah left a spirited legacy of strength, love, and giving.
Dinah was born on October 20, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN to Walter R. and Windlon A Johnson. She grew up in the colorful Tennessee mountains listening to Dolly Parton and roller skating like no other. She was a devoted mother to Billie, Carie, Lloyd, Taylor, Hannah, Chandler, Riker, and Brittan, who survive her. Though she faced difficult times in life, she always found a way to create happy and magical memories for her beautiful family. She found true love in David Chance, and they married in 1986. The sweethearts have been inseparable ever since.
Dinah was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of the LDS church. She also loved being a member of the "Red Hat Society" for the longest time, pursuing fun times and friendship with others.
She took pride in her garden, chickens and flowers—fulfilled by the simple, happy life.
Those who knew Dinah will remember her warmth, vibrant personality, the spark in her character, and her pronounced love for everyone. Even though Dinah's physical existence has concluded, her memory continues to guide us.
Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation to Ability Hospice, the staff of Spring Creek, and everyone who has provided care to Dinah these last few weeks. As a family, we will be forever grateful for the support and kindness she received.
A private ceremony will be held to celebrate and honor Dinah's remarkable life.
May her spirit rest in eternal peace.
