We’ve known Derrick for many years and his folks. He did a lot of jobs for us ....when he moved south, he still kepted in touch and we thought that was great...he always reminisced about the good times at our restaurant with his dad...just an all-around good guy ....miss chatting with him and thots and prayers to his left behind family ♥️
Just thinking about you BUDDY. One year you have been gone and what a horrible year it has been. You missed this one. I know you and I were good friends as we got to know each other. Of course, you were always the smarter guy. I didn't know what E=MC *2. was and you didn't bother to explain. Way to early for me to learn about Einstein . I miss you insight on life. wish you were still here.

Derrick and I have been friends when we met in Middle school 6th grade. One day while in High School he asked me to introduce my long time friend. He didn’t know her. I introduce Lynn Douglas to my friend Derrick and later they got married and had a wonderful child.

You all may know how Derrick had knee replacements. Well as Paul Harvey used to say and now “The rest of the story” Derrick wanted to impress me with his nice new car. We left from the High School to go to Vo-tech. I was not supposed to be with him. We were going over 100 mph headed toward Guys Mills. When we came up to the curve by the Game lands we were slowing and the last I saw was still 80 mph. The car spun the rear to the right because of gravel on the road. Derrick cut the wheel to the right and the car spun around backwards as we went into the woods backward and up over a high embankment. Van Halen was playing on the radio. We were both okay! I couldn’t get out my door because of a tree. I caught a ride so I wasn’t at the accident when the police came. I heard later Derrick blew out his knee jumping out of the back of a truck before it stopped at the store in Guys Mills. We kept the fact I was with him a secret for a very long time. He was a brilliant guy who I will miss .
