Dennis and I went back to childhood and MYF days at St. Andrew's Methodist Church. We graduated from Findlay High School together 50 years ago and, like many other classmates, I was looking forward to seeing him again this year and am so sad to have missed the chance to catch up and share memories, as we did at past class reunions. I will always remember him fondly! My sympathy and condolences to all his loved ones, especially his sister Barb, who was also a childhood friend.
Every once in awhile you meet someone who leaves a lasting impression even on first impression. Dennis was such a man. I met him when he was co leading a cross country ski trip to Utah between AASC and WSTC. I was fascinated by his duel life in both Ann Arbor and Utah, and his willingness to share his love of both by leading this trip. His warm welcoming greeting and excellent presentation was one of the best in my many years as a cross country skier. This was reinforced by the wit and whimsy of his postings in the club newsletter. I immediately noticed when he left his editorship,  a position he so clearly enjoyed and excelled at in mid season. To learn he had passed was a shock to even someone like myself who had only met him once. I can hardly imagine how those close to him are dealing with this loss. You are all in my thoughts and I hope your memories bring comfort in the days and years ahead.

I’m so sorry to hear of Dennis’s passing. He was my neighbor on the 4th floor of Prescott, but I’m not here very often, spending most of my time at our “real” house in Michigan. So while I had noticed that I wasn’t seeing him around since I’ve recently been here, I only discovered the real reason for his absence today when I encountered a realtor showing his condo.

I’m so sorry to lose him as a neighbor. He added so much to this condo building; serving on the board of directors, doing his own landscaping outside (because he felt our yard crew didn’t do a good enough job!) and he was always a joy to encounter. And he was excited about his condo renovation because he wanted a second bathroom for when his grandchildren visited. He was always focused on living his best life.

I will miss him. He was a great person and a wonderful neighbor.
Condolences to the family of Dennis Slough. He was an early friend to me at Central Jr. High School in 8th grade after I had come over from St. Mike's. May his soul rest in peace.

Dennis and I came together dancing at Live. We shared a reverence for nature, the mountains and deserts in particular,  and a fun, dry, sense of humor.  Meeting someone later in life is both wonderful and complicated. We had our ups and downs, and after he moved back to Utah, we maintained a close friendship. I am so very sad that you are gone, babe. I'll miss you, you scoundrel. I love you.

I am in shock. Dennis was one of my favorite people. He was a good soul, fun person and I will never get over this loss. My sincerest condolences to Katie, Audrey, and Hannah. For about 14 years, I was kept up to date on your accomplishments and life experiences. He truly loved his girls. I will miss Dennis, my very good friend.

I just learned about  Dennis' passing last night and it has shaken me.  As a high shool classmate I  occasionally connected with him over many years when he was in Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, though not as much as I would have liked, since he often was drawn back to the mountains in Utah for years at a time and I was on the East Coast.  I always found him to be a kind and gentle soul with a great smile, clever sense of humor and keen insights.  It was impossible not to like Dennis, and the world’s a little worse off without him.

My condolences to all who were his friends, but particularly to Audrey, Hannah and Katie and their extended family.   I hope to personally extend my feelings for your loss at a future gathering.

So sorry kids for your loss. Dennis was fun to be around and never thought he would be gone so soon
Oh daughters, i am so so sorry to be reading this.  I did not know your dad but heard many stories thru Hannah and felt like i had known him.  His memory will live on through those stories and through you and all those that he knew.  My thoughts all with you all and I send peace and love your way.    Bert Hall

I had a great bike ride in Dead Horse Point once, and I’d like to keep those memories alive. Lots of love to you and your family.
