I still remember the day like it was yesterday. I was a freshie (freshman) at IIT Bombay and was walking around the hostel at night after a long ragging (hazing) session with the seniors. It must have been around 2 in the morning. I heard a noise in the bathroom in one of the hostel wings. Who is up so late at night and what are they up to, I wondered. I walked into the bathroom and lo and behold, I saw a guy washing his clothes and whistling. The minute I walked in, Deepak looked up, smiled as only he can at 2:00 am and said - "Hi, I am Deepak." What followed is a beautiful friendship of thirty years through some of the thick and a lot of thin. Every time I think about it, it puts a smile on my face - thanks for the memories!
