I came a year late to East Early College HS and Ms. Vining was one of my teachers my first year at the school. She was a great teacher and a funny person, which really helped me settle in. I loved hearing stories from her when she'd have time between slides, it was one of my favorite things of her class.
She was an incredibly kind person. One of the things I remember her doing was having a place for coffee and hot chocolate in her room for those who needed it. She said she did it to continue what another teacher did. I thought that was amazing, especially since it wasn't a required thing. I always came to class early and would help start the machines, and we'd talk about all sorts of things while waiting for class to start.
I have very fond memories of Ms. Vining, and it made me sad to hear of her passing. She helped me integrate into school and now I can say I've graduated this year thanks to her help. Thank you for everything you did, Ms. Vining.

My condolences to Deborah's family. I was new to teaching and Deb took me under her wings about 5 years ago. I was part of the crew who helped her in and out of the building each day, usually sharing our day's stories with one another. I miss her voice.

Ms. Vining was more than just a teacher — she was a mentor to me. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself and always guided me toward making better choices. Her impact on my life will never be forgotten.
