I have so many lovely memories with my Uncle Dean. He was truly a gentle spirit. He and Aunt Mala always made me feel important and were interested in who I was which meant more to me than they probably know. Uncle Dean had a curiosity and so many ideas to offer. I have an unusual business and I remember the twinkle in his eye as he discussed ideas to remove odor among other things. At my wedding my bustle broke, it was Uncle Dean and Aunt Mala who worked together to fix it. They were a dynamic duo of problem-solving. My heart hurts for Aunt Mala, Nicole, and Eric as well as their entire family as I can only imagine the emptiness they feel where a great man once sat. I only hope that memories of Uncle Dean can provide some relief with smiles and laughter.
Lots of love to you all and Uncle Dean you are and will be missed, Nicki

Today is Dean's birthday and he would have been 85! I miss him. He was my life in every way. I was always in amazement of how he could be so dedicated to improving everything he could. Science was his God. He lived his life committed to doing the best possible in everything. I learned a lot from him about treating people with respect, he was very considerate toward children, animals, disabled and the less fortunate. He always encouraged me to pursue anything I wanted to do and without his help I could not have been successful in my career. He was a very understanding father and I could not be more proud of how he has always treated his kids and grandkids. I can go on , but suffices to say he is loved and he will always be with me in my heart and alongside me.

From Nicole: One of my most recent favorite memories was when I was readying for a long drive. I was at my parents’ house and needed some tools and car stuff, since I was going to be driving alone. I told my dad we were going to do a scavenger hunt and gave him a list of things I needed. Even though he wasn’t feeling very well, he immediately took the list and disappeared into the garage for about fifteen minutes. I walked by the front door later and saw that he had piled up a ton of stuff - far more than what was on the list - tire inflators, gloves, boot warmers, rope - plus a bunch of my grandfather’s old tools with his writing still on them. Every time I open my trunk I think of this day, which so perfectly encapsulates everything my dad was. Thoughtful, brilliant, over-the-top, quiet, and analytical. Miss you Dad. I hope you are at peace.

Our condolences to all family and friends. Debbie and I enjoyed a lot of great gatherings with Dean (& Mala), especially when they resided in AZ. Dean was always interested in the details of a discussion and others lives. We'll miss you Dean.
