David's obituary

A life-long learner with an infectious hunger for knowledge, David was fascinated with creation be it earth, sky or sea. His hobbies included astronomy, geology, fossil hunting, sailing, classical music, photography, lapidary, stained glass, and bird watching. In each field of study he accrued as much knowledge as he possibly could, and then taught those around him. Never missing an opportunity to share the love of Christ with anyone. he understood the way to the heart of another person is honesty and a disarming sense of humor. One of his greatest passions was Bible study, delving into Greek and Hebrew word studies and conversing with other Bible scholars. As an avid reader, David was seldom without a book and said of his retirement years, “All I want to do is read.”

David served in the Reserves with the Army Medical Corps for 8 years, volunteered with his local ambulance squad, and spent many hours serving the homeless community with New York City Relief. In response to Jesus’ commandment to love one another as we have been loved by God, his heart was always for others, to love them and to serve them, and to share his deep faith. Davids occupation started in pharmaceutical sales, then to laboratory medical sales including computer soft ware.
David’s greatest joy was his marriage of 58 years to the bride of his youth and love of his life, Carol Christine (Seaburgh) Wade. They met at Upsala College in East Orange, New Jersey. They belonged to The Masterworks Choir performing in such venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and music continued as an ever-present part of family life. Together they set an example of love and commitment for their four children Allison, Gregory, Holly and Jason, maintaining a sense of humor and interest in life. After retirement he and his wife opened a preserves business to create delicious fruit products and sold them together at farmers’ markets and in local stores. David was also a charter members of Grace Christian Fellowship in Bainbridge, NY.

David was blessed with a peaceful passing at home, and is now in the presence of his Savior and Lord, worshiping for all eternity. To be absent from the body is to be present with Lord.
