David's obituary
Our beloved Son, Grandson, Brother, Father, Nephew, Cousin and Friend David Richard Montoya Freed his soul unexpectedly on February 6, 2022 at the young age of 49. He leaves behind his son Raymond Canteloupe, and Daughters Nyssa and Isabel Montoya. Along with his mother Bettye Chavez and Father Johnny Maldonado and siblings Diane Montoya, Carla Montoya, Sonya Montoya-Boncore, Ramon Maldonado, Sarah Montoya, Amy Montoya, Joseph Montoya, Michael Montoya, Christopher Montoya, Matthew Montoya, Mark Montoya, Abriana Maldonaldo and Jonathan Maldonado and preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Stella Montoya, Rose Delara, father David Montoya and siblilings Alyssa and Mona Montoya.
David was born on January 17, 1973, to Bettye Chavez and David Montoya and later raised by Bettye Chavez and Johnny Maldonado. David’s caring, joy filled free spirit could be felt by everyone he met. If he wasn’t surrounded by the many dogs he loved, he could easily be found reading a book about how the brain works, afterlife, ancestry, entrepreneurship, and history and left us a library to prove it. He also never seen a goodwill he didn’t love and found so much joy getting the deal of the day. He took extreme pride in his Budweiser collection as well as his lowrider and playboy magazine collections. He was the jack of all trades master of some and always willing to try something new, a modern-day inspector gadget if you will.
David never met a stranger, everyone was welcome in his circle especially if you loved road trips, deep talks, camping, or sitting around for hours fishing alongside him listening to oldies and we can’t forget the shots with a slice of orange. He was known for going wherever the wind took him, always trying something new, traveling to different camping spots and stopping at EVERY body of water possible to fish, spreading love and positivity along the way.
Davids love for the outdoors, shots, and music were only surpassed by they love he had for his family and friends. He would do whatever he could to help out those he cared about and always made sure they knew how much he loved them, whether it be through long meaningful talks or spending quality time with them and showing his encouragement for their personal accomplishments and goals. He will be missed dearly by many and forever remembered. Because David Celebrated life, no formal funeral service is being planned instead he will be honored with a celebration of life on Saturday March 5th further details to follow.
