David's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Eugene Minard, a dearly loved father and husband, known for his off-beat sense of humor and strong devotion to family. David left us peacefully on December 6, 2024 at the age of 78.
David was born on December 14, 1945 to Elwyn and Helen Minard in Evanston, Illinois. His adventurous spirit eventually led him across the country and overseas, where he honorably served as a lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers.
He was a proud alum of Colorado School of Mines, graduating as a Petroleum Engineer in 1968. David’s early career brought him to Pampa, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Patricia. They chose Edmond, Oklahoma as their home, where they raised their family and spent nearly 50 wonderful years together.
A lover of mystery, thriller, and detective novels, David's curious nature could always be seen in the way he lived his life. He enjoyed traveling and exploring, taking his family on numerous vacations over the years. Always ready with a joke, his funny side brought laughter to those around him. His favorite time of year was Christmas. He will be remembered fondly, especially this time of year.
One of David's greatest accomplishments was his family. His unwavering dedication to his wife and children were at the heart of who he was. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives of his children and grandchildren who will miss him incredibly.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Patricia; parents Elwyn and Helen Minard; paternal grandparents Lester and Thirza Minard; and maternal grandparents Leonard and Beulah Jones.
David is survived by his son Jason Minard and daughter-in-law Amanda Grant, daughter Sarah Glass and son-in-law Michael Glass. His grandchildren, Colin and Sydney, who affectionately called him “Bucko” brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his siblings, Michael, Alan, and Debra Minard, and a large extended family that he loved.
There will be a small service held on December 27, 2024 with immediate family only, but we appreciate everyone's love and support and encourage everyone to share their favorite memories of David on this memorial website.
