David Lopez was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to Aurelio and Luisa Lopez in 1953. His parents migrated with his family from Puerto Rico in the 1950s. For nearly five decades, he dedicated himself to social justice and activism in Los Sures, New York City, and Puerto Rico.
