Fred Ralph Hertzberg (the 3rd) was born on February 10, 1948 to Fred and Lila. In his 40s, he legally changed his name to David John.
David grew up in Fircrest near Tacoma, WA and graduated from Wilson High School. David was known to his friends and classmates as "Fritz". His family owned a book binding business.
David grew up and attended Pacific Luthern University and Biola University.
