I was thinking about Mr. Green recently and am sad to see his name here. I attended LVA from 2002-2006 and hung out with him in the library as much as possible. I enjoyed spending time with him sorting books and hearing his stories. I have many fun memories with Mr. Green but one time in particular sticks out, I remember we were cleaning out his office and I found some 5" floppies and laughed and told me “Oh a while back they wanted me to transfer those to 3.5 floppies, but I never did. Then years later they wanted me to transfer the 3.5s to CDs, but I never did. Then years after that, they wanted me to transfer the CDs to files on the computer, but I had never even moved them off the 5" floppies to begin with. A few years ago I got an email telling us to delete those files off the computers because now they are on the internet. So the lesson is, If you ignore things long enough, sometimes they do go away." Me and I laughed till we couldn't breathe. I'd never heard a teacher say something like that before and it cracked me up. He wasn't wrong. To this day, I tell variations of this lesson to others and the surprised look on their faces makes me laugh. Mr. Green was a wonderful person with a great sense of humor and he is still making people laugh today.
