David's obituary
David Glenn Gordon
February 28, 1962 – March 18, 2025
David Glenn Gordon, 63, of Granbury, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, David’s presence brought warmth and wisdom to all who knew him.
Born on February 28, 1962, in Odessa, Texas, to Gloria and Travis Gordon, David spent his early years in Sonora, where he graduated from Sonora High School in 1980. Just two days later, he began a lifelong career in the oilfield. By the age of 21, he had already risen to the role of tool pusher, working for Tom Brown Drilling, later TMBR-Sharp and Patterson, for the next 24 years. His career also took him overseas to Africa in 1989 with Parker Drilling. In 2004, David transitioned into consulting, first with Oxy and later with EOG, where he remained until his retirement in 2024. Respected in his field, he was not only a skilled professional but also a mentor to many, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.
On December 10, 1994, David met the love of his life, Jacque Justice. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and family. Through good times and bad, their bond remained strong, raising a blended family with unwavering devotion. Their greatest joy came from their five children and eighteen cherished grandchildren, including those he lovingly embraced as his own.
In 2007, David and Jacque moved to Granbury, where they continued to enjoy their passions—fishing, hunting, and spending time on the water with their grandchildren. Along the way, they forged incredible friendships and created countless memories that will be treasured forever.
David is survived by his wife, Jacque Gordon, and their five children:
• Andrea Madrid (husband Josh) of Midland, Texas, and their children: Tyler, Lauren, Crystal, and Cole.
• Kendra Barnes (husband Frank) of Fort Worth, Texas, and their children: Ryland, Hunter, Waylon, Maddux, and Jaxson.
• Kirsten Gordon (partner Kurtis Miller) of Burleson, Texas, and their children: Landen, Logan, and Kinzie.
• Matthew Gordon (wife Kathryn) of Fort Worth, Texas, and their children: Wyatt, Colton, Wesson, and Olive.
• Austin Clayton of Fort Scott, Kansas, and his children: Kolbey and Noah.
He is also survived by his brother, John Gordon; his sister-in-law, Jeri Davis; and several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Gloria Gordon, and his grandparents.
David’s legacy is one of hard work, love, and loyalty. He leaves behind not just a family who adored him but also a lifetime of friendships, memories, and wisdom that will live on through those he touched. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, and the love that continues in his family’s hearts.
