David's obituary
With profound sadness, we bid farewell to David Dickey, who was born on October 2, 1979, and departed this world too soon on June 3, 2025. David was a unique and memorable man, whose personality was as colorful as his favorite colors - black, blue, red, and green.
David had bold and eclectic tastes. His favorite foods ranged from ordinary chips to decadent steaks, with a particular fondness for powdered doughnuts, fish and chips, and fruits, especially pineapple and strawberries. His drink choices were equally unique, with a fondness for Mountain Dew, blue Squishies, and his self-proclaimed "Crack," the Mountain Dew energy drink fruit punch.
He was a lover of music, with a wide-ranging taste that included tracks like "Under Your Scars" by Godsmack, "Whore" by In This Moment, and had a self-depreciating humor, with a song he dedicated to his girlfriend "i'm fucking stupid, but I'm fucking cute." David was not a man to laze in front of a television; he had better things to do – a stance that showed in his favorite games, which remain a private and cherished memory.
David reveled in the great outdoors, with fishing being his favorite pastime. He loved spending time at the Oregon City boat dock, a locale that was dear to his heart. He also demonstrated compassion for animals, caring deeply about dog rescues. His personality was multifaceted. To some, he seemed tough or even brusque, but to one very special individual he was sincere, warm, caring, and loving. A protective man who was also surprisingly cuddly, honest, compassionate, attentive, and patient.
One of the significant lessons he emphasized was the importance of authentic love and honesty over manipulation. David was a hard working man, who took pride in the past and what he had accomplished before a tragedy occured But perhaps what he valued most was opening his heart to someone who valued his love.
His legacy is one of love, and he will be remembered for his enduring devotion to his close ones. David was a singular individual, deeply cherished, who lived on his own terms. He was not married and had no inclination to be so. Any claims otherwise are a misrepresentation. David was a person of integrity, and his memory will live on, a testament to a life lived authentically.
In closing, David's legacy of love and authenticity serves as a beacon for all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched and confided in .. and especially his pet.
