David's obituary

David Daniel DeFlavis, age 80, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on February 6, 2023, after a prolonged illness.

David was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne (Iacampo), his son Scott DeFlavis (Kim), daughter Lesley Sakey (JJ) and his eight grandchildren (Matthew, Emily, Jared, Josie, Tucker, Luke, Travis and Colton).

Born December 13, 1942, in Abington. David graduated from Admiral Farragut Military Academy and Franklin and Marshall College. He served in the US Marine Corp Reserves for 6 years. In 1963, he married his wife of 59 years, Joanne and together they wove a beautiful life together.

David’s career included work in the family masonry business as well as being self-employed. He served a term as the President of Associated Builders and Contractors, as well as serving on their board for many years.

A Christian man, he served on his church vestry for multiple terms, and was an advocate for Christ wherever he went.

David enjoyed life and was active in many pursuits. He was a sailor, photographer, golfer, swimmer, skier, ice hockey coach, and train hobbyist.

He was a caring, gentle man who never cut corners and he never spoke ill of people.

A Memorial service is being held on Saturday, February 18th at St. Mark’s Reformed Episcopal Church (1162 Beverly Road, Rydal, Pa 19046). Visitation is from 10:00 am-11:30 am. The memorial service will begin at 11:30 am.
