Dear Paul, Maeve, Katrina, and Zeke -

I am so sorry for your immense loss. Darina/your mom was a very very special person and I will always treasure her friendship. I will never forget her kindness to me throughout the years: when our family was going through tough times her simple yet persistent presence were such a balm; as well, on random evenings over the past few years, we had such fun sharing food, stories, and laughter.

“What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.” — Helen Keller

Grief takes everyone on their own journey. May you have the time and strength to go through yours with grace and know that I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers.

With love and deepest sympathy,

Claudia

Dear Kavanagh Family,

I'm so sorry for the loss of Darina. Darina was always kind and greeted you with a smile! She really cared about her employees and the patients! She loved rounding on the units, I would joke with her about wearing her sneakers, that was my way of knowing she would be rounding after morning huddle. Darina will be  truly missed. I will pray for your comfort and peace.

Dear Paul, Maeve, Katrina, and Zeke. Our deepest condolences to your family. Darina was a beautiful soul, an incredible human being, and a dear friend. Her love for humanity and serving others was simply awe inspiring.
Thank you for sharing her beautiful heart and time with us. We did so many great things under her amazing leadership to help those we serve.
She will always be a bright light in our life, and have a very special place in our hearts. With sympathy and love.
 The Heredia family.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family as they seek solace that you are with God.   Rest my dear friend you were a beacon of light and I will always remember you and our times at KP.
Darina is an inspiration to us all in showing how you can keep living and appreciating life whilst continuing to fight. When I last had the pleasure of visiting my aunt Darina, even though she was suffering, she never once complained. She continued to brighten up every room and her family and friends faces, making sure that her illness was not the centre of attention. Darina showed me how important it is to laugh in the face of struggle and appreciate the ability to do so. She showed me the importance of having an incredible support network sculpted through investing time in friends and family. Her children and husband were always a source of conversation, it would warm any heart to hear how she spoke of each of them with such awe and pride. I can only imagine how much she has inspired each of them. I hope we all aim to aspire to be even just a little bit of Darina. Whether we demonstrate our intelligence through striving in our work, demonstrate patience, kindness and interest to everyone we meet, remain positive in the face of challenge or demonstrate strength and resilience like no other. She was a force in every way, and in being so she lived an incredibly full life, filled with laughter, adventures, memories and love. That again is something we can all aspire to achieve. My thoughts are with everyone lucky enough to have known Darina, as she will be dearly missed by so many. I particularly want to share my condolences with all of Darinas family and friends, especially Paul, Katrina, Maeve and Zeke and her sister Kate who cared so lovingly for her. May she rest in peace knowing she has lived and loved an incredible life.
I had the pleasure and honor to work with Karina at Kaiser East Bay. As AQL and CNE we partnered to address some serious regulatory issues and had great success! She valued our collaboration and helped unite the PCS and Quality teams to improve care to our members. I cherish the memories of that time working with her and the entire East Bay Leadership team.

My Dear Paul, Maeve Katrina, Zeke and the Treacy’s

There are no words to describe the pain and Loss. Darina was an Amazing outstanding, accomplished, elegant and dynamic leader. I came to the Bay Area because of her. She was my mentor.  The bond grew to being a close friend and family. I was honored to be part of her life.  She never failed to ask how Joe was and would say “ how are my boys doing”

Jonathan had the privilege of studying at Resurrection school because of her. She had a kind and compassionate heart and has been a guiding light to so many.

We had lovely times in her back yard, at restaurants and at work.  Not once did she complain. She always smiled even through pain.

We love you Darina and you will always be in our hearts

She had fought the fight and run the race. She  is with her creator
