I just heard a song last night while my daughter and I were in the car and I said, "OMG, Darian did a video singing this song!!!" And though it brought joy to my heart, it quickly turned into a deep sadness, and my next statement was, "I CANNOT believe he is gone ...there is NO way he isn't here...". He is an energy you just don't ever forget ..you just can't. 🥺🥺🥺🥺

This is a loss for many. My warmest hug goes out to Alannah and the girls. While I haven’t seen Big D f2f in years, we kept in touch. He was one of those guys I could jump right back into stride, with chatter, banter, and real convos. D's passing, rattled me. My wife as well, as she had brief interactions with D & Lana, and the little one(s) years ago. He was the real deal. Good people. Authentic. Loveable. Someone that made the world better. While I don’t know the extended family, I relate to sudden family loss. My condolences to the entire family. I know D was a good man, who created a lot of experiences, smiles and laughter, and I'm sure everyone will honour those memories. He’d certainly want us, to have each other’s backs, with love. As I said when I found out, my heart hurts and my head doesn't understand. I've know Darian since his very first days in advertising in Michigan. And over 25 years and countless moves between our respective families, we somehow always managed to check in. The same jokes that were funny at the start of our friendship were still funny last month (at least to us) and we could always just pick up where we left off. I've been struggling with some health issues for several years, and D somehow managed to check in without it feeling like he was checking in. Watching the love at his service today proved something I always felt was true. D just made you feel special. He couldn't help it.

I met Darian and Alanna in 2006 when they moved into the condo next door in Jersey City and we became neighbors. You don't get better neighbors than that! And to my surprise a few weeks later I ran into Darian at work as it turns out he worked in the agency next door to the ad agency I worked in on Varick Street in NYC. I have never met a being who was able to connect with people the way Darian did. His unique ability to make people feel at ease and like they belonged was his true gift. Alanna, we will continue our NYC get togethers and Darians heart of pure gold will never ever be forgotten. What a legacy you have left Big D. There will never be another like you. May you RIP.
