I first met Daniel at one of the lowest points in my life. I had little to connect to besides a new group of friends who I could share a love of games with. Daniel was among those friends, and although he didn't know me all too well at the time, he never hesitated to extend an invitation to get-togethers he organized or start up conversations that made me feel we had known each other for years prior. We laughed at the dumbest things, burned the midnight oil together, did movie nights, gamed, partied, and shared various milestones. In an instant, those moments ran over 18 years. His warmth came from a fire that could catch in anyone that he spoke to, and in that warmth, he shared his empathy, kindness, care, and love. He gave me more than he could ever know, and the love he shared is one that I will spend my life passing on to others. If love is timeless, then you, my brother, are with me forever. I miss you and will love you always.

Although our friendship was mostly through online ways of communicating due to the distance, it was one of the most open and honest friendships. I will miss geeking out over movies and series, not being able to send you memes and laugh over how bad they were, and our deep talks about all things life dropped on our plates. Trying to learn Dutch words and joke about how bad the language is. My only wish for you is to have found your peace.

As for your mom, family and friends; I wish you all the strength they need. To never lose these precious memories we all got to make with Daniel.

Daniel, know you were loved and you will be missed.

Met Daniel like I met most of those I was close to at Strake, through work grant. Daniel always wore cargo shorts to carry his bottles of water when we would be too far from the building. And we would talk shop regarding the rockets, music or comics while we waited for our respective intro classes. Work grant wasn't really work when you were paired with Daniel. We'd get done quick and do the job right as was Daniels style, and we did it so we could get back to the room just in time for family feud where we would all play along. Sad to hear that another brother from work grant is gone. WG4L
