Dearest Kari Jo and kids,

I learned of your loss and wanted to reach out and let you know how saddened Annie and I are.

We both remember Cory so fondly during Annie’s playdates with Betsy, at the PS 199 events, and how kind and friendly he always was with us.

We would very much like to attend the memorial service on June 1st, and give you a big hug.

It must be a great comfort having the kids home from college, I hope you’re all doing well.

Cory has had an immeasurable impact on my career, helping me grow as an engineer and more. His handwritten cards were a special treat, even if they were difficult to read :)

Cory and Kari Jo took care of us like family when we came out to visit in 2022 and his kids took turns entertaining our 3 little ones so we could linger at the dinner table to chat. 

He was my boss for more than 8 years and it's difficult to imagine working so closely with anyone again. He gave me freedom to take on hard things and to fail occasionally. But the failures were celebrated and we'd learn from the mistakes and move on. If you wanted to improve something, you always had an audience with Cory, so long as you were willing to invest yourself in it, the way he invested in others. 

My teams benefited from the calm and thoughtful hand of Cory who always had our backs and led by example, bringing others up with him along the way.
