Christopher's obituary

Christopher Scott Lagle, 48

Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Veteran, and Friend

Christopher Scott Lagle, 48, of Bessemer, AL, was found deceased in his home on May 2, 2025. If you ever met Scott, you remembered him—he was impossible to miss, and always a little too loud. Whether cracking a joke at the wrong moment or diving headfirst into his next spontaneous adventure, Scott had a way of bringing life to any room.

Born on July 29, 1976, Scott was energetic and restless from the start— he chased experiences the way some people chase comfort. Yet, no matter where his adventures took him, his heart always longed for family. While he was best known for his jovial spirit, he had a keen mechanical mind and a soft heart for those he loved. He was the son who never missed a chance to check in, the brother who could roast you better than he could comfort you—but would drop everything to be there if you needed him. As an uncle, he gave the best car rides, big ridiculous presents, and offered hilariously questionable advice.

Scott proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E,” and Sea Service Deployment Ribbons.

He is survived by his father, Randy Lagle; his younger brothers, Cameron and Mitch Lagle; his little sister, Angel Steyn; nephews, Aiden Allred and Eli Lagle; nieces, Abbie Lagle and Sarah Allred; and countless friends, comrades, and loved ones who will never forget his warmth, humor, and support. He is profoundly missed.

A burial service with full military honors will be held on Friday, May 30, at 12:30 p.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.

Please plan to meet at 12:15 pm CST with the family and cemetery representative at the Alabama National Cemetery at 3133 Hwy. 119, Montevallo, AL 35115, in the Public Information Center just inside the main entrance to the cemetery. A cemetery representative will meet the procession and lead them to the designated shelter, and the Committal Service will promptly start at 12:30 pm CST. Should you need directions, the Cemetery phone number is 205-665-9039.
