New Ellenton – Charlie Carol Yon, 69, entered into rest Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

Charlie is the son of the late Bennie William “B. W.” Yon and the late Edna Ruth Walton Yon. He is the brother of Ben Yon and his wife Dianne, Jerry Yon and his wife Loreli, Barbara Ingram, and Sarah Baxley and her husband Gene. Charlie is the uncle of Toby Yon and his wife Tina, Joshua Yon and his wife Ashley, Brooks Yon and his wife Jana, Christopher Yon and his wife Chelsea, David Ingram, Amy Ingram, Billy Ingram, Ben Baxley and his wife Aerial, and Sherry Long and her husband Bryan. He is the great uncle of 15 nieces and nephews, and the great-great uncle of one niece.

Charlie graduated from Graniteville Vocational School in 1969. He worked for Daniel Construction, Austin Industries in Augusta, GA, and then Dixie Narco in Williston. Charlie was a volunteer with the New Ellenton Fire Department for twenty-five years. Charlie retired early to be a care giver for his parents. He was a member of Fountain of Life Fellowship.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3 pm Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Aiken Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Patricia Lucas ministering. The family will receive friends at the graveside. The family asks that attendees please wear a mask and social distancing will be observed. The family has entrusted Blizzard Funeral Home with Charlie’s care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in honor of Charlie be made to the New Ellenton Fire Department at 201 Oak Ridge Avenue, New Ellenton, SC 29809.
