Charles's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Charles (Dale) Gowan, at the age of 58 on April 5th, 2025. For the better part of the past year, Dale has been battling multiple chronic illnesses, the primary being his Crohn’s Disease. During Dale’s final week doctors discovered severe blood clots throughout his body, and after fighting through multiple surgeries, Dale ultimately lost the battle. He passed away at home with his family by his side, surrounded by those who loved him dearly.

Dale is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rebecca, his children Cody, Anthony, Madelynn, Gillian, and Emma, and his brother Guy. Dale was also immensely cherished by his family of friends, who will always remember the lifetime of memories they have built with him.

Born in Seminole, Texas on February 20th, 1967, Dale was the middle child to his parents, Charles and Cheryl Gowan. Dale faced many challenges during his adolescence that taught him the perseverance and strength many knew him for. Dale had a keen ability to see the bright side of things, building a family of his own through many lifelong friendships. Aside from his friendships, Dale was also able to build a family that he cherished more than anything. Cody was Dale’s first son, born in 1992 in Boise, Idaho. In 2001 Dale married his wife Rebecca and became father to her two children Anthony and Madelynn. In 2002, their daughter Gillian was welcomed into the world followed by their daughter Emma in 2018. Dale was loved unconditionally by his family for his unwavering support and dedication to them. In Dale’s final chapter, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and took great pride in living through the values of the church.

Dale was an incredibly talented drywall hanger, starting when he was 19 years old with his brother Guy. He was proud of his craftsmanship and deep expertise, hanging houses across Colorado with his brother for most of his life. Being an adventurous spirit, Dale wasn’t afraid to travel for work either, finding work and new friendships everywhere he went. He discovered he had an innate passion for traveling and was able to show his family many new places through their travels over the years. Dale lived an adventurous life, with many, many stories that he loved to tell to those he cherished. His children will forever be able to drive through the cities they have lived in, remembering the houses that their dad pointed out with pride, exclaiming “I built that!”.

Our father will be forever missed - he was the backbone of our family. We took great pride in calling him ours, and we’ll never forget what he meant to us. Dale knew how loved he was until the very end.

With deepest sympathy,

Madelynn Martinez
