I've always thought about this great man. I had him as a teacher at Kennedy and Northern. He was one of the best. I loved working with him on multiple productions at school. It took a little convincing to get him to pick up the drama class at Northern,  but one we got him started, there was no stopping him.

I'd like to begin by explaining why I've attached a picture of Blessing from Heaven with my story. When my beautiful daughter passed away seven years ago, Charles shared an amazing story of Meghan's after death communication with him. It touched my heart so deeply, that we co-authored a book about it.

I'm going to miss my dear brother Charles more than words can express. Although we lived in two separate states, we frequently visited one another. I loved my summer visits with him at Stonebroke where we would share multiple adventures . . . especially on our bicycles . . . so many Rails to Trails to experience! We loved to shop for unique "treasures" and costumes to use in the little skits that we performed (for the birds and critters) in his Theatre in the Woods. Macbeth was my favorite. Knowing my love for meditation, Charles painted a labyrinth in the front yard of Stonebroke. Because he repainted it every year (in anticipation of my upcoming visits), he became the Keeper of the Labyrinth. Still another delightful experience was our shared love of Sherlock Holmes. We would choose one of Doyle's 56 short stories to study in order to make up quizzes to stump one another. Charles usually outsmarted me. One final love that we shared was for Gregory Beach, a 100+ year old resort on Magician Lake, Dowagiac MI. I'll miss our annual Sibling Week. Meghan's Memorial Garden overlooking the lake continues to celebrate Charles' life. And every time someone slams the front porch screen door I smile.  "Don't slam that door!" was always our father's reaction . . . and the rebel in Charles loved to slam it in spite.

You're with Meghan now, Charles. She loves you so much. Hopefully you are having wonderful experiences together.

Im so very sorry for your loss, Mr.Roberts was one of my favorite teachers at Kennedy Jr.High. Always soft spoken and always let you create a poem or story in how you felt. O gosh I didn't know he lived so close to me. I'm in Oxford. My prayers again to the family. I know he will be truly missed🙏🏻
