In 1974 when Chad blessed our family with his unexpected presence , EVERYONE was shocked. Mom and Dad were in their mid-forty's. Jeff was 16 , almost out of High School and I was 13 going on 30. Dad carried around a Polaroid picture of him to show off. He was keeping tally on the back for everytime someone asked if that was his grandson. With the biggest grin and chuckle he would boast that it was his son. And penciled another mark. Dad's favorite words about Chad was that boy could tear up a steele ball. For myself, Chad was always a great excuse for going and doing the things I was too old to do but still wanted to. Like playing dress up with a real baby. Later on it was watching Disney movies on Sunday. For Jeff, Chad's first words were , "Let's go get a coke. " And they'd head out in that classic Impala. I remember coming home from school one day and Chad was sitting in mom's lap crying his eyes out. She was trying to explain to him that he was still special even though he was not adopted. He wanted to be like his brother and sister. He was a fun kid. Always ready for adventure. Loved his childhood friends and was loyal to them AND to every stray dog he could find and bring home. Poor mom. She raised all of Chad's dogs. She spoiled him rotten. That's what the youngest child is for. He was the baby. He was a still a kiddo of 11 when he became an uncle. And then again . And one more time. 3 ornery rambunctious nephews that were constantly around. He was great at it. We had to wait on him to grow up and marry Heather before we got more babies in the family. What a blessing they have all been. Chad will definetly be missed by all that knew him. And to know him was to love him. See ya later, little brother.
