I miss you Chad!  We are still having funny/happy Padre texts going on in my head!  Love you buddy!

I've been thinking about Chad a lot this week.  I'm not sure why.  I get sad and then I hear him in my head making fun of me and then I smile.  "looking at Logan, and real piece of work this guy is..."  "shut up lugnut" "heillll"

Love you Bona and I miss you!

Please accept my heartfelt condolences for the loss of Chad.  I just learned about Chad's passing this week.  I have read through the comments and wanted to share a few.  I met Chad in 3rd grade.  We sat at the same table for a week or two until we were separated for having way too much fun.  I spent time with Chad at school, playing baseball, water polo, surfing, and at every party that ever happened in Scripps Ranch in the 80s.  The last time I saw Chad, which was probably 6 or 8 years ago, he promptly gave me 7 nicknames in rapid succession that left me hunched over and belly laughing, as I recall one of them was teasing me for my German last name, I think it was "Fweg-schnitz-bagel" or something similar.  So hilarious!  We played a lot of baseball together and I can remember Chad pitching with his Dad over on the larger field at Jerabek, as we transitioned from the small diamond to the larger one.  Chad was not a side armed pitcher, or even a 3/4 pitcher, but rather pitched straight over the top. I think it's safe to say that every pitch was thrown as hard as he possibly could.  The first pitch might be a high and tight fastball at your chin, the second one in the dirt at your ankles, and the next two straight down the pipe for strikes with heat.  This "random precision" left batters standing as far off the plate as possible, because one never knew what was next.  He was a very effective and intimidating pitcher, LOL.  I also remember many surf sessions at Torrey Pines in the winter time in high school and having so much fun with him no matter where we were.  The last time I saw Chad, I shared a memory from 3rd grade, for which he remembered and we laughed our asses off.  Our teacher, Mrs. Warren, was big on geography and used to pull down the roll up map that was about 6 feet wide.  Every day she would point out states and cities, and soon the class was separated in half and one person from each side of the class would come up front.  It was a competition as to which student could find a city on the map the quickest.  Most of the time it would take people a minute or two to find a city while they hunted the whole map.  Well, Chad went up front and when the teacher called out "Denver" Chad's finger forcibly hit the map within a millisecond and he shouted "Denver!" and the girl he was facing off against literally had not even moved yet.  The teacher felt so bad about Chad's decisive victory that she decided there had to be a re-do, for which Chad also won.  We laughed about this pretty hard.  I think Kevin McDonald and Jason Turpin were in this class too.  Hearing about Chad this week was really tough, he was an amazing friend, and literally one of the funniest, kindest people I have ever met and was always a total blast to hang out with.  Farewell my friend, you will always be missed.  Chris Feuge

My sincerest condolences Lynn and Bob.  You raised an absolute gem.

The morning after Chad passed I was driving and blasting Billy Joel’s “Only the Good Die Young.”  “…I’d rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun,” never rang more true.

We were soccer teammates and baseball enemies from 9 to 14 years old and he gave me my nickname “Wyggs” somewhere around 1980.  It’s still in play 43 years later.

My wife and I consume a ton of comedy in-person, on Netflix and podcasts and I know it seems obvious, but Chad could’ve easily been a headliner at The Comedy Store with his own Netflix special.

Chad and I lost track after 8th grade, but I caught up with him a couple years ago at Paul Gelvazon’s father’s funeral.  His energy was as infectious as ever and all I could do was smile as we caught up.

Rest in peace my friend.

Jim “Wyggs” Rygg

Like most of you, I remember Chad's humor, his energy.  Growing up in Scripps at the same time, the Turpin brothers were regular subjects of Chad's comic attention.  I think that was his way of bringing you into the group.  Wrap his arm around you and have a good laugh. And we laughed.  Hard.  But I also remember Chad for his kindness and compassion.  Like when he offered some kind words out of the blue after my Dad passed.  Chad added another layer to the depth of life. He was one of a kind.  No one else could've put that layer down.  My sincere condolences go out to all the family and friends.

Chad trying to do the emoji face, 😏 to have a laugh... He was the king of inside jokes and was always coming up with new funny catch phases and jokes. He was an extremely hard worker and to make the work more fun he would crack so many jokes to entertain and get through the day.
