Ms. Catherine Shaw, age 69, of Vidalia, died Friday, December 27, 2019, in The Oaks-Bethany in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and a 1968 graduate of Vidalia High School. She was a homemaker, a Christian and was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest “EJ” Shaw and Lynah Collins Shaw.

Ms. Shaw is survived by one son, Joel Powell and wife Celeste; two grandchildren, Caroline Powell and Ethan Powell, all of Greenwood, South Carolina; eight siblings, Carole Stalnecker of Vidalia, David Shaw and wife Gail of Jackson, Robert Shaw and wife Pam of Vidalia, Laura Chaney of Jacksonville, Florida, Earnest Shaw, Jr., Michael Shaw and wife Beverly of Vidalia, Rebecca Harp and husband Rick of Jacksonville, Florida, and John Shaw and wife Melanie of Anderson, South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Vidalia. A private family burial will be in Pinecrest Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall on Saturday from Noon until just prior to the service.
