Mary Oliver: Tell me  what is it you plan to do with your  one  wild and precious life?

Catharine gave her all  and we  are  grateful.

dear Van, Rye, and Olive, I send empathy and condolences. I am heartbroken that your time together has been cut short. Peace
Back in our Baltimore magazine days in the late ‘90s, Catherine was my close friend and confidante. She was a meticulous and insightful editor, and I learned so much from her. So many memories are flooding back to me on the wings of the horrible news of her untimely death. She was kind, hilarious, brilliant, and always there to listen or just be a shoulder to cry on. As sometimes happens in life, we fell out of touch. I regret that. We swore we’d catch up … and then we didn’t. I’m so devastated that now we never will. The world has lost a wonderful person. I’m so sorry for her family’s loss and my heart breaks for her daughters.
One thing I will always remember about Catherine is how when she was listening to you, she was really, really actively listening.  Something tells me you will always know she's listening.  Love to all of you in this time.

I'm floored by this. The quotes just glow with genuine adoration, heartfelt respect, even actual love - true feelings that are very rarely heard in professional settings. There's no lionizing our beautiful Catherine; she really was all the things.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Catherine’s family and friends, especially Bobbi, my Mercy HS classmate and friend. 🙏🏻❤️
I'm so very sorry for your loss and to the loss of the Mercy High School community alumnae. May the Lord comfort you during this difficult time.  <3 Lisa Turnbaugh, Class of '87
