We were friends and colleagues for 60 years. Carole and Bob and my ex-husband Mike and I were very close. Rented a house in Providence, Bob and Mike collaborated on a sports book, and we knew Douglas and David as wonderful boys. When I began to write commercial women's fiction Carole became my agent. I had worked on something for a client of Carole's who sent new material I reedited. But an asst. mistakenly gave client the orig. edit. Client was annoyed and refused to pay me. Carole stepped in and straightened everything out in her no-nonsense competent way. Though we hadn't seen each other for 2 yrs. when I lived in CT, we were planning to meet for lunch and spoke only days before the unthinkable happened. The reality that she's gone continues to elude me. But I will always love her and be grateful for the wonderful years we shared.
A lifelong friend from the beginning of our parenting days until she passed away. She remained close throughout the many stages of our lives. We had lunch the week before she passed. She was lively, happy and I told her she was beautiful. After her shock, she asked me why I said that. I enumerated the many ways both how she looked and her pleasure in life and we laughed a lot for the rest of the lunch.
I am so heartbroken to have learned about Carole’s passing. We have a lifetime of memories as we have know each other since kindergarten at PS 34. Carole was my maid of honor in my wedding in 1953. There are just too many stories to post but ours is a friendship that was eternal. I will miss her tremendously.
We are deeply saddened to hear of Carole's passing and reminisced fondly of our interactions with her. We were grateful for her trust in our abilities to care for her knees, back and gait and just hope it made some positive impact on the quality of her life. It is nice to know she was able to keep walking independently with her Rollator around our beloved Upper West Side. We will miss her and send our profound sympathies.
