As our young children were growing up in milwaukee, we attended the same congregation. With her husband's work schedule, and mine, the only time we could get together during the week was after Joe got home from work. She would call me with a one sentence question,"Ya wanna go?", and I would answer "Gimme ten!". I'd hop in my car and race over to her house to pick her up, and we would hit Leon's, our favorite custard place before they close. She would get butter pecan, and I would get chocolate, and then we would enjoy half of our cones in the car. Once I was almost done, we would take a drive around I-94/ 894 which forms a square, and talk, talk and talk! I'd drop her home, looking forward to the next time we could do our Leon's run. When you've got small children, you make every moment count, and we did! When she moved away from Milwaukee, I gave her a city map, highlighting our special freeway track, and a star on where Leon's is. She told me several times that she enjoyed looking at that and reminiscing about this simple, but profound memories. Now when I go to Leon's, I remember her, and how blessed I was to have her during that time in my life.
Sister, you brought so much joy and love to everyone you knew. I will miss our long conversations we had. I will take great comfort, knowing that you truly are not gone. Your body is not here, but your beautiful soul lives on in heaven. And I know you are dancing across the stars every night with the Angels. Until we meet again.
I am so sad to see this Carol was one of the first friends I made after moving to Milwaukee. 1971 . We sang with Neil Diamond at the Arena. Going to junior high and High school together. Gods Speed Carol hug your Parents for me!!
I’m so happy that we got to spend quality time together doing an activity Mimi and I both enjoyed. Some of our last memories together are full of laughter and joy. We had a really big heart-to-heart in September where she shared so much of her life story with me. I’ll forever hold her stories and our shared moments together in my heart 🖤 I love you Mimi!
