Carol's obituary
On Friday, May 19th, 2023, Carol Ann Savage, a fierce woman and loving mother of three, passed away after a brief but brave battle with cancer at the age of 65 at her home in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born Carol Ann Dormeyer on June 13th, 1957 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, she was the youngest daughter of Alma Dormeyer. After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1976, Carol went on to earn her Associate degree in Psychology at Jefferson College in 1978. With this degree and an array of diverse skill sets, Carol was a renaissance woman within her careers ranging from a position at the Howard County Courthouse, a prestigious law firm in Carmel, and a customer service expert for well over a decade. Her ability to connect and relate to others, as well as read and perceive them easily and immediately was truly an innate trait to behold.
Anyone who knew Carol on any level knows she had a passion for exceptional music and thrilling stories; whether that be in the form of a captivating novel or a binge-worthy show. Quick with a memory or a story about the meaning of a song, Carol never missed an opportunity to sway & snap to some of her favorite artists that she had discovered throughout her lifetime. In recent years, Carol developed a near fan-girl interest and admiration for Korean culture by ways of her affinity for the KPop music groups BTS, Jackson Wang, and The Rose. Some of Carol’s “endearing” traits range from her hardheaded defiance and well-executed sass but made all the more lovable by her infectious laughter and compassionate spirit. In her times of curiosity and competitiveness, she thoroughly reveled in mastering puzzles and playing pool & darts, as well as laying siege in quests within her various forms of gameplay. Another facet of Carol’s many hobbies was showcased in her love of collecting various mementos of her favorite animals: tigers and horses, and using them as decorations for inspiring surroundings. But, without a doubt, Carol’s love of horses was never more on display then when enjoying the Kentucky Derby annually, from near or far, with her favorite beer in hand and a few bets on the board for added fun.
Loved ones of Carol’s who previously passed include great-grandparents: Jesse & Viola (Denton), grandparents: Albert & Lettie (Shaner), her mother Alma Dormeyer, and beloved niece Kimberly K. Fortner. Those left to carry on in her memory include son, Dmitri (Shawna) Hollingsworth, his father Herbert Hollingsworth, granddaughter Jossalyn Victoria and daughters: Karma Michelle & Rose Marie and their father Norbert Eberhardt. She will also be fondly remembered and deeply missed by prior spouse and forever friend, Ken Savage. Lifelong loved ones include her siblings Paul Dormeyer, Nancy (Jim) Modglin, and Glen (Jane) Dormeyer. Additional family to cherish her memory comprise of Sheryl McBryde & family (Cliff and Nicholas) and nephew Scott Dormeyer & family (Tara, Camden, and Carter).
