I was a student of Mr.corona and  When I first went to JJH which was my first year I had science as my first class and I remember being scared to meet the science teacher but little did I know that he was the best teacher ever   He  showed us a picture of his wife and his twin boys and just him talking about it he seemed really happy and I know that he loved his family just seeing how happy he was when he was telling us stuff about his wife and other family he just seemed happy and it made me happy and in the first day of school Mr. Corona had told everyone one what there name was I was scared at first but he made us do these index cards so he can call on us everyday I remember when you would go into his classroom. He would tell you good morning or good afternoon and with those index cards he would like to make us feel scared cause he would just call on people randomly without letting us know sometimes he would joke around like oh imma call on you and he would always tell me and my two friends that he was gonna call on us in class and the one time he told me Crystal imma call on you in class and that exact day he called on me I was scared and Mr.corona was laughing when he called me and I got nervous I didn’t have an answer so he told me it’s ok I’ll come back to you and I still didn’t have one so he skipped me for the whole day. I know I didn’t know Mr.corona for a long time I only knew him for at least 5 month and those 5 months that I got to spend in school with him were so fun everyday he would walk around the school and he would always come up to me and my two friends and talk to us and joke around with us he called us the 3 musketeers cause me and my friends were always together and I remember that one time he came up to me and my friends oh today in the science lab you guys are gonna be tortured and we were like no we’re making slime and he was like no I’m making the slime not you guys and he started laughing a bit but how I have him 1’st period I went and he lied we did the slime so I started laughing because he was joking with us and it was really funny I loved having Mr.corona as a science teacher he was the best teacher there ever could be and I know only knowing him for at least 5 months wasn’t a lot as other people knew him but Mr,Corona changed my life he had a huge impact in my life and he just made it seem happier with his  enthusiasm and when I would see him really happy it would just make my day and I will never forget him and I miss him coming up to me and my friends and talking to us. His labs were really fun to do and I enjoyed them and I  miss seeing him too I can’t even imagine how his family feels and I’m really sorry for the loss of mr.corona  he shared a really big awesome, friendly, loving, heart  ❤️

Carlos was my City Year teammate for the 2012/13 School Year at Rosa Parks in Sacramento. I was so amazed by his kindness and helpfulness. Please accept this donation in honor of his memory.

My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family. May you find strength and comfort in each other.
Charlie you were one of the very few people that Vicky let call her “toad” in public. But you always thought that was the funniest nickname and she knew that I’m glad she got to experience the amazing person and teacher you were .  She would always asked should I call him “Charlie or Mr.Corona”

From our days in elementary school to adulthood, Charlie (Cao) and I weren't just family; we were also close friends. We experienced everything together, from his first and only fight in elementary school to serving as his vice president for our class and FBLA. We constantly encouraged each other to get involved and achieve more. One of my favorite memories is him visiting me at Subway every night I worked, getting a free tuna sandwich because I'd drop his favorite bread intentionally. After work, we'd cruise around dubtown, attempting to have a good time – not successful until our senior year when we became the cool kids! Charlie was the responsible one, and I was the wild instigator. Despite where our lives took us, we always had each other's backs. Your departure hurts, Charlie. You were loyal, trustworthy, level-headed, and so many more amazing qualities. I'll miss you calling me governor, but if the day comes, I know you'll be by my side. Love you Primo, Brother, Cao, Adopted Salud Family member hasta pronto…

Hey Corona Family,

I hope you're surrounded by love and support right now. Hearing about Carlos hit hard – it's tough to find the right words for the deep sense of loss we're all feeling.

I first crossed paths with Carlos at UCSB, rocking the UCBS Rowing team together. Our connection was instant, feeling more like brothers than teammates. It did help that we were the only two  "beaners" on the team. his words, not mine.. Haha Carlos had this awesome vibe, and his warmth made him a real gem in our rowing crew.

One crazy memory? I once asked him why he smelled like cow manure. Turns out, he was working with the UCSB grounds crew to cover his tuition. I was a bit embarrassed about taking on a manual labor gig at our prestigious University surrounded by good-looking people and our peers, thinking we should be working smarter in college not harder. Carlos just laughed and dropped some wisdom: "There are no menial jobs, only menial attitudes. Ponte las pilas mijo!" His laid-back perspective and determination stuck with me. Enough so that I applied for the grounds job and got it! we both picked up tons of leaves together for a few years. We even endured some seriously stinky chemistry lectures together during our UCSB Grounds days due to the manure we had to spread around every start of the year – no one dared sit next to us!

Carlos was more than a rower; he was a force on and off the water. Win or lose, he gave it his all. Facing challenges, he showed us resilience and guts, teaching us that success isn't just about outcomes but the effort we put in.

As we navigate this tough time, know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and Carlos's family. May you find strength in the memories we shared and comfort in the support around you.

If you need anything or just want to chat, I'm here for you.

With heartfelt condolences,

I remember meeting Charles. It was in August during football practice. On this hot day I remember going through and running plays. And here is Charles, coaching one of the lineman on how he should keep his head up during contact. He explained the importance of the safety of keeping your head up to prevent a neck injury. Now I wasn’t a linemen, not even close. But what stuck with me that day was that here’s a guy coaching JV players as an upper classmen. That in itself shows what kind of character Charles was. His determination to help people, supporting people, and overall showing compassion touched many individuals. You know when you lose someone like Charles you come to think about how you live your own life and what impact you do on the people around you. How little time you have to be around those people too. It is sad to lose a close friend, it is sad to lose someone from a small community. As it feels like you lost a family member. Ultimately, we will continue to live as Charles lived his life, because it is the one impactful thing that he did every day that you’ll continue to carry out and do the same to people. We will see you again my friend. Until next time, doc!
