CALVIN's obituary

Calvin B. Almquist, born Lindsborg, KS 1942, died Richardson TX January 30, 2025. His true brilliance as a philosophy professor and attorney was tempered by longstanding intractable mental health issues. He loved all kinds of music from George Jones to opera and found solace in singing.  Above all, he taught that eARTh without ART is just "eh." Calvin is survived by his sister, Charlotte Melcher Smith (Tooger), two daughters, Jennifer "Jenimae" Engelbrecht (Bruce) and Heather Almquist (Michael), and three grandchildren, Milo, Peter and Annika.

He requested an ash-scattering ceremony near redwood trees, so the memorial service will be private in California at a later date. Any contributions in his honor would be welcome at his beloved ACLU or an organization supporting mental health, political freedom, or the arts.
