I'm so sorry to hear of Beige's passing. A brilliant mind. Mike - condolences, my friend.

Beige hired me as an intern with her team at the Phila City Planning Commission in 2019. I officially joined the staff three years later, and I'm forever grateful to Beige for providing me with that initial opportunity. I miss hearing Beige's clear, ringing bell voice, and watching her run urban design with her no-nonsense bun and Dansko clogs (I wear the same). My heart goes out to all who love her. Â

I am so sorry to read about Beige and completely shocked. She was my freshman year college roommate at Textile/Phila U. My assigned roommate had dropped out and Beige's assigned roommate was really annoying so we linked up together and really liked living together!Â
Beige was such a hard worker - I'm not surprised she became an accomplished city planner! Wow thinking of her family and of Mike and sending my love.

I am so sorry to hear of Beige's passing. I often worked together with Beige when she was at PCPC and I was at another city agency. In our work, we would occasionally review design projects together. I was always struck by how thorough and thoughtful her reviews were, and how her critiques always provided clear, constructive guidance for improvement. I always felt so much better talking through things with her because I knew she had such a great eye and ability to express her ideas.
In my years of knowing her, I never heard her say an unkind word or voice frustration, even when situations were objectively frustrating. She was a true professional and a generous colleague.
A few years ago, I started consulting, and I was really struggling with that transition. We had a few meet-ups, and I'll never forget how Beige was so encouraging and had so much more confidence in me than I had in myself. I wish I could tell her how much that encouragement and the 'of course you can do it' pep talks meant to me. Â
The privilege of having known Beige was a gift. My best to her family.
With love,
Julia

I am so sorry for your loss. Beige was such a kind and genuine spirit. She welcomed me to PCPC and we shared our love of knitting and baking. Most recently, she provided a job reference for me, and I'm sure I was offered the job in large part because of her. I did not know she was battling cancer, and I was hoping to get together when I moved up to the Albany area. This news is heartbreaking. May her memory be a blessing.
