C. Beige Berryman, aged 44, passed away on November 6th after a courageous battle against cancer. Beige was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, and friend, known for creativity, sincerity, and positivity that brightened the lives of all who knew her. The values of community and mindful design guided Beige in a brilliant career. She showed her vivacious spirit in all she did.
Beige was born in 1980 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She grew up in rural Vermont where she developed her independence, sense of adventure, and love of nature. She spent her summers performing in the Vermont Children’s Theater. In 1994 Beige graduated from The Riverside School in Lyndonville, Vermont. She attended high school at St. Johnsbury Academy where she excelled academically and played several sports. Beige pursued her passion for design in studying architecture at Philadelphia University. After graduating, Beige joined her future husband in Los Angeles where she decided to study urban design / city planning at the University of Southern California.
In 2008 Beige returned to Philadelphia as a city planner where her talents, determination, and leadership led to a speedy professional ascent. To be closer to home and seek new professional challenges, Beige accepted the position of Director of City Planning and Economic Development in Saratoga Springs in 2023. Beige’s professional contributions extend from the facilities of the Los Angeles Zoo to the bike paths and commercial developments of Philadelphia to the historic districts of Saratoga Springs.
Despite her dedication to her work, Beige’s journey also reflects a personal life filled with joy, special relationships, and passions. Those who knew her remember an imaginative artist, an avid cyclist, a talented crafter, a lover of dogs, an expert pie baker, and an enthusiastic adventurer. She will continue to spread joy through the Pond Jump! board game which she created. Whether she was cooking with friends, traveling with her husband, crafting with her sister, or planning special events with her parents, Beige knew how to live.
