Sending my love to Byron's family & my families appreciation for him. He was our neighbor since I was 8 years old and growing up I knew him as the man who always took care of his lawn. But this year I began to know him as the wise, funny, and happy man who always had a big smile on his face. He was there for me in my struggles and just know that he is finally resting with our Savior in the clouds so may his beautiful family have peace too.
Thank you Byron for making us smile and being our friend.

I am Uncle B's niece Stephanie....What can I say about Uncle B..... Well he was my Uncle B long before he married my Auntie Karen. He was actually bestfriends with my Uncle David Holiway who proceeded him in death some years ago.....He taught me so much and probably never realized it. One of the things he taught me was that just because you come from where you come from doesn't make you who you are and who you're destined to be.... Even though my Uncle Michael Holiway taught me how to play dominoes, Uncle B taught me the strategy of the game. He said..."It wasn't always about making money across the table, it was about playing the last domino to get all your competitors money at the table".....I laugh now thinking of that because he did love him some dominos and from time to time I saw him play chess.....the thing that mostly stands out is his love for family. I remember many summers as a kid Uncle B and Auntie Karen coming to town they even let me spend the summer with them in Colorado. Yet, you can best be assured when they came to KCMO that they were bringing the party with them with their two beautiful daughters my cousins Khalilah and Vanessa. When they came into town to 4325 College where my grandmother use to live. You were guaranteed to hear, music and the smell of barbecue coming from the backyard and the echoing sound of laughter. Speaking of laughter my Uncle B had a laugh that was so contagious you had to laugh along with him and a smile if you were down at that moment when he walked up to you to give you one of his huge hugs and smiled at you, you couldn't help but to smile right back...... and one of his other talents was Kansas City two step probably one of the best by far so smooth on the dance floor I use to see him dance with my Aunt. I say all this to say that he will be hugely missed it's surreal to me right now but I would like to think that he has joined his other brothers, my uncles, Michael and David Holiway and that they are together in paradise.... Much Love to you Uncle B.... I love you😢😢😢
It is never easy to lose someone you love. Uncle Bernard was a special man to so many people. I feel lucky to have a voicemail from him that I can listen to whenever I think about him. To my sisters, Lilah and Nessa, I love you dearly. I may be your little brother, but I'm big enough to carry any load you need me to. Don't hesitate to ask me for anything! Even if it's just my time. Welcome home Uncle Bernard.
