Bruce and Marlene were a delightful couple and spread cheer wherever they went. I am happy to have known them and share fun events with them. I am so sorry to hear of their passing and want to share my deepest sympathy for their family and friends. With much love, Jeannine Kofford-Jenkins

Bruce and Marlene Beal were honored with the Dana Point Historical Society's Founders Day Award on May 25, 2016 at the Dana Point Yacht Club for their contributions to the society and to our community. They participated on Home Tour Committees, created oral history interviews of surfing pioneers, wrote
A Beach History of Dana Point and later compiled Surf, Paddle & Sail! Oceanic Heritage Journal of Dana Point, finished in March, 2023. Marlene and Bruce had fun marching in the Festival of Whales parades with historic photos, volunteering in our outreach booths, and as docents in the museum. We had fun with them! They also helped other nonprofit groups achieve nonprofit status and assisted with their legal advice. Bruce was excited to be part of the Hobie Memorial Board of Directors. Bruce was a dedicated member of the Dana Point Historical Society Board of Directors and they were Lifetime Society Members. Their oceanic heritage journal about the watermen and women of our area is available on our website at www.Dana

Deeply sorry to learn we have lost Bruce. He was so brave! I crocheted him a black and blue scarf when he was suffering from an infection, He attended a gala with his wound vac on his shoulder.
Carried on in terrible times. An inspiration to all who knew him.
Lovely man.

Michael and I loved doing many 'couples' things together with Bruce and Marlene. From sailing to plays to concerts to dinner parties and oh so many chamber mixers - they were a delight to spend time with. Our conversations were lively and spirited! Seeing these photos made me smile and wish for those good old days. We miss them but have many good memories to cherish.
