I served with Mr Horais in Attack Squadron 34, Airwing 1 / USS John F Kennedy from 75 to 79. As a squadron Aircraft Final Checker and Systems Troubleshooter we became very close to our aircrews. We were the guys that had the last word in their aircraft’s safety and air worthiness. That an aviator would place their faith in the hands of a twenty year old is testimony to the trust they had in us. But to us men like,  Mr Horais were bigger than life.  I strapped him in and shot him off the pointy end many times. And he returned  the respect  to all of us equally. He was a class act, and a sailor’s sailor. 

I offer your family my most humble condolences for your loss.

Cathy and family.  May God bless you in this very difficult time.  Brian is arguably one of the most accomplished, if not THE most accomplished man from our class.

In reading his obituary, I can only regret that I had not spent more time with him. I will value the time that I did have, and look forward to a reunion in heaven.

May the Lord bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you.  (Numbers 6: 24-26).

Brian was my Plebe year roommate - what an awesome intro to a terrific friend, artist and shipmate. Lisa & I loved traveling with Brian & Cathy and miss laughing and sharing a beer with them.  Brian's laugh, talent, and friendship leave a monstrous crater in this world. We love you Brian, Cathy and Family!
