When I was a brand new missionary serving in the Salt Lake City West Mission I remember meeting Brother Thompson in the Jordan North 1st Ward. Never have I met a man who was so devoted to his family, his faith and devoted to loving and serving others. There were many nights where my mission companions and I were invited over for dinner - chicken cor don bleu was one of the main dishes we ate with them - and I just remember Brother Thompson talking about his mission stories, how he met his wife and just how proud he was of his kids. You could feel the love from him instantly. He was always helpful and willing to serve anyone at anytime.

Our paths crossed for a short time, in the business world. He was in the right profession, always caring and helping people as a Physical Therapist,  but he was much more than that. He was thoughtful, hardworking, smart, knowledgeable and a very nice guy. I could always rely on Brett, and l thought of him as a friend, that doesn't happen much in the business world.my prayers for the family, l grieve.
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Brett. He had a profound impact on my life! I lovingly referred to him as my "work dad." He was always looking out for me. We shared an office for a little while and had many long conversations that helped me through some of my hardest trials. I will be forever grateful to him for all that he taught me.  He was an amazing man! Sending love and prayers to the Thompson family during this tender time.
Bev, so sorry for your loss.  You and Brett were always thought of fondly as part of our family and the news of Brett’s passing is deeply mourned.  We love you more than you will ever know.  Brett, RIP - may your good deeds  and enormous heart continue to spread your light and love through all the lives you touched.
Brett was the most selfless man I know . We are so grateful for the time we called him friend . We were on the receiving end of his love and kindness countless times . We are better people because of him and his great example. The world lost a one of a kind that can never be replaced . Thank you for everything my friend . We will never forget you!! Truly a man of God.

I am so sorry to all Brett's family.  I am a PTA who worked closely with Brett.   He was the nicest person and a fabulous therapist.   I am deeply sorry.

Sincerely

Chris V.

I remember going to church and it was hot because someone stole the copper wire to the AC Unit.  Bishop Thompson got up at the beginning of fast and testimony meeting and asked us to pray for those that took it.  That is the reason he was such a great man, he was always thinking about the suffering of others.
We were so sad to hear about Brett’s sudden passing. He was a great man and we were blessed by his service and example and I know many others feel the same. His devotion to his family and his Lord showed in everything he did. We are so blessed to have known and served with him. We pray that you all have the gift of peace and love. We love you!

My name is Robert Koelliker and I am a family member of the Lee York family and new Brett when he was the bishop and met him on a few occasions and got to know him over the years  well in 2018 i had unexpected health issues that required surgery. On the day before the surgery  and during the peak of COVID when visitors were not allowed Brett happen to be there on that day on a  clerical privilege for the church and Doug York called  asked him if he would give me a blessing. Not only was he happy to do it he was genuinely concerned and spent a few minutes talking to me. Easing my mind and being a great human being. He did not have to come and do that to someone he didn't know all to well and to non Mormon as. Well. But he is a great man with a heart as big as the galaxy I will always remember that and be thankful
