Profound sadness to hear this news. Branko was a delightful soul, engaging, animated, with much to say. His passion was authentic and palpable. I have fond memories of late night conference exchanges, sharing ideas and stories, with barely a breath in between. Warm, kind and generous always. Much too young, with so much more to give. Heartfelt wishes to Vera and family.

Branko supported much of my early introduction to ACADIA and several emerging technologies conferences over 15-years ago. I realized he last messaged me 2-years ago. This news comes both with saddness and compassion. Rest in power, and condolences to Vera and family.

I was heartbroken and truly shocked to hear of Branko’s passing. We shared a wonderful dinner together just a few months ago, and it’s really difficult to process this news.
Branko was such an accomplished scholar, teacher, and dean, and an important voice in architectural education. He was thoughtful, curious, and deeply engaged, and I have many fond memories of our shared interests around architecture, technology, and the role of education in shaping new generations.
But what stands out just as much was Branko’s generosity and warmth. He loved bringing people together and was an incredible host — the kind of person who made you feel immediately welcome.
Most importantly, he was a devoted husband to Vera and a loving father to Marko. He will be deeply missed, and my thoughts are with his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Primi moje iskreno saucesce. My deepest condolences. Branka Jovanovic

Sincere condolences to Vera and family. Branko was such an important thought leader for our field who inspired so many people and you were all so kind and generous to our family when we visited Alberta. A shocking and devastating loss for all who knew him.

I first met Branko when he invited me to the symposium he organized on “Performative Architecture”. He was one of the few architect / professors who knew early on how digital design could have a profound impact on how we as architects practice our craft. His passion was a real inspiration to the students. Both the academy and the profession lost a true thought leader. So it comes as a complete blow to hear of his sudden passing. I will miss him.

I met Branko at several eCAADe conferences going way back to the early 2000’s- always on the cutting edge of research- always engaged in deep and interesting conversations outside of conference sessions. Life is precious and never certain. Gone, but his impact will be lasting… RIP Branko.

Dear Vera and Marko,
My deepest condolences on your loss.
I had the pleasure to meet Branko at an event in São Paulo, many years ago now, and several times since within the 'community'. His writings have had a massive influence on my thinking about movable buildings and digital design. In his honour, I will be revisiting Building Dynamics this evening.
Wishing you all the best.

Hello Vera,
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Branko. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Marko.
I had the pleasure of spending time with Branko on several occasions including at AAA Council meetings, CACB sessions, and as well within the EVDS faculty. He touched so many people in a truly profound way.
While I did not get to know Branko or you well during those years, I very much enjoyed my conversations with you while my Site Planning course ran concurrently with your Studio 2 course. Also at that time, my son Dante played baseball with Marko and we would occasionally catch up at the ball diamond. Dante also sends his condolences to you and Marko.
Branko's legacy is larger than life. His absence in your life is heart breaking. I wish you and Marko the strength to mourn and then celebrate such a wonderful man.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my dear professor, Branko Kolarevic. He is one of the most extraordinary minds I have met in this world, and as one of his students, I feel profoundly honored to have been influenced and mentored.
I had the privilege of spending one of my last year studios under his guidance, an experience that left a lasting impact on both my academic and professional development . I greatly admired him as a person and his academic and professional contributions, pioneering work in both digital design and architecture, which continues to inspire my own approach to design.
Professor Kolarevic’s legacy will live on through his work and through the many students whose thinking he shaped so generously. He will be remembered with immense respect and gratitude.
With heartfelt condolences

Even a short semester with him had a profound influence on me. It wasn't just design skills that he taught, but a way of thinking that uniquely shaped his students' futures.
