Brandy's obituary

Brandy Shantel Jones was born April 23, 1979 in Oakland, California to Steven and Sabina Jones. She was one of two children along with her brother, LaMar Rashad Jones. She was the first in her family to attend high school on a college campus and was well known for her quick wit and love for technology, which she developed at a very young age. Even at five years old, she was helping teachers with computers. Many would call Brandy to get help with their computer issues, or even tips on games. It is easy to understand why she settled into a secular career that involved technology. As part of a very close-knit family, one of her favorite pastimes was watching basketball with her dad, Steve. And if you knew Brandy well, then you knew her favorite team was the Warriors. She also had a lovely voice and enjoyed fun times singing with her brother Rashad for gatherings. The enjoyable conversations she shared with her mother Sabina, which any mom would cherish, made her a well-rounded person. This is why it is almost impossible to find a photo of Brandy without her wonderful smile. Brandy stayed with a smile on her face, and you could always hear laughter when she was around. Brandy also loved to travel; a passion passed on to her by her mom. One of her travels took her to Colorado where she lived for a short while before returning to the San Francisco Bay Area. Because of her love of people and outgoing personality, she came to be called “Auntie Bran” by many kids, and viewed as family by so, so many others.

Most of these extended family members came as a result of the shared love for her loving heavenly Father and God, Jehovah. Because of her love for God’s word that was instilled in her from infancy, she gave her first ministry school assignment at just six years old. On July 6, 1991, at twelve years old, she dedicated her life to her God Jehovah, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. From that time onward, a major part of her life was helping others learn about Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. She loved sharing the positive hope they hold out for the future. This moved her to become a “Pioneer”, attend pioneer school, and share in full-time ministry activities for four years. Her love of travel also harmonized with her becoming a delegate for two International Bible Conventions, in both Chile and Brazil. One of the hopes Brandy shared in her ministry was that of the Bible’s promise to bring back to life those who have fallen asleep in death. We can all now look forward to this hope respecting Brandy.

Brandy leaves to cherish her life and memories, her Parents Steven and Sabina Jones; Brother LaMar Rashad Jones; Grandmother Lucy Lacy; Uncles and Aunts - Donald Jones (Diana), Gary Jones (Pamela), Sherry Jones, Leopold Lacy (Florence), Xavier Lacy, Ann Walker (John), Wilma Branch; Brother-Cousin Derrick Donald Jones (Ashlee); Cousins - Alise Jones, Natalya Sherese Lacy, Leopold F.E. Lacy, John Walker Jr, Donna Jubert, Darrell Walker; and many more Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, dear friends and loved ones.

Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.”
