I met Brandon when he was in high school and he began taking voice lessons from my mom, Peggie Howard.  I will never forget hearing him sing "Old Man River" at his voice recital - you should have been there!!  I was lucky enough to see him off and on over the years since then and it was always a joy to be with him.  I was so proud of his success with "I Can't Breathe".  He is certainly gone too soon, but has left us such a legacy.
The most God-given talent in a voice that I’ve ever known, and the kindest heart ever made. Prayers for all of you. <3

My connection and memories of Brandon will most likely be very similar to others here. We met during a stage production and his infectious joy enlivened every space. He remained my favorite person to run into downtown for a decade and I will always wait to hear his booming voice echo in happy places. One time I was joking with him that he could be a coach to a person in market square who was having not much luck projecting their voice over the crowd in an attempt to convert people to some ill-advised doctrine. Brandon turned to me with a serious look and a trickster wink and said, "I must use my powers for good." The happiness he brought was definitely a great good and this loss is a tough one

A true friend and brother. He was a natural leader and anchor among the few strong male voices we had in highschool in choir, especially in competitions. Brilliant theorist, composer, performer, and writer. Also, any AEHS Choir/All East/All State vets (and any likely any other group) here will testify that no performance, road trip, jam session, nor shenanigans would have been complete without his contributions. On a personal note, I never had opportunity to tell him, but a song he composed on piano in highschool, which I begged him to teach me, later came to perfectly fit as an accompaniment to a song my mother my mother wrote. Over the years I've always thought of him when I played it. I mention this because I know that though our lives and career paths never had opportunity to cross paths after I left Knoxville, I can confidently say that the legacy Brandon's left behind is that every life he's touched, no matter how long or short a time, he's made that much better for knowing him. He was the kind of man that always pulled others around him up to give their best, just because of the light and energy he brought to the mix. Forgive me if this post is a bit long, but truly, he is a brother that will be deeply missed. My heart and prayers go out to all friends and family. God bless.

The world was far more interesting with you in it. Until Valhalla.
Brandon and I grew up singing together in high school All East and All State choirs, and we sang in college together at UT. He is a dear friend to me and I am heartbroken that we lost him so young. I pray for his family and all those that mourn him. He touched so many of our lives. The last time I saw him, I told him his nickname should be Mr. Knoxville. I’m really going to miss him, his beautiful voice, and his joyous laugh.
Will miss your smile brother. It always lighted up the whole room. 💔
I am truly sorry to hear about the loss of Brandon. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and Marble City Opera.
