As a young lawyer, I tried a case against Blanche when she was an AUSA. Loss. She was impossible to win a trial against.

I was clerking for Judge Penn in USDC for DC. The clerks rarely sat through hearings and trials, but this day was special. It was the first time I saw a woman representing the United States in federal court. Of course it was Blanche Bruce and I never forgot it. She was the quintessential professional. Watching her argue in court was truly a privilege. She solidified my desire to be a trial lawyer. I always teased her about it, but she was so gracious. All I know for sure is that her example lives on in all of us.
Sending my prayers to her family. She will be missed.

I’m sending hugs to my cousins Samantha and Mackenzie, Sheldon, and Bill Bruce. Blanche was a lot of fun and she introduced so much of DC to me when I was in college. I will always cherish our fun times we had. I cherish our memories! Love, Adriene

I met Blanche 41 years ago today when we both entered on duty in the Superior Court Division at the USAO in DC. and we were both assigned to Team 5, claiming the two empty desks of four in that office. We both were from Detroit and had been recommended for the job by the same person. We were also both in DC to be with the men we loved and were to marry. It was on that day, February 28, 1983 that I first heard the magical laugh that I can still hear in my head. We only worked together for four years but we remained in touch - randomly in person when I returned to DC on business trips and by phone or email - but always, always on February 28. Phone conversations gave way to written conversations and then to one-way communications. But always, always on this day of February 28 which will forever be our day. May your name be a blessing to your family and friends. Happy Anniversary Blanche

I am truly saddened by the loss of Blanche. She was a trusted mentor and friend. I met her in 2004, when I joined the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia. She was always there for me when I needed career advice, even after I left the Office. I admired her. I respected her. I truly loved her. She had a great laugh. I will miss the sound of her laughing, which always made me laugh! Scharn Robinson

I had the pleasure of knowing Blanche not only as a fellow AUSA and member of the Edward Bennett Williams Inn of Court, but also as a loving and devoted Palisades swim team parent. Her genuine kindness shined through in both personal and professional settings. She will be missed.

I extend my heartfelt condolences. Blanche was a special individual. If she cared about you you knew it, because she showed it. I was blessed to be one of those she cared about. Rest now Sister. Job well done. Thanks to family and friends that cared for her.

Balance was an extraordinary attorney, surpassed only by the fact she was an extraordinary person. Very grateful to have called her a colleague. Michael V Tomaselli, Ass. U S. Attorney , retired.

Blanche was perhaps the most popular person in our Law School ofClass of 1977.
She was smart, well-prepared, respected and friendly to everyone.
After law school, she was active and supportive of the equal justice missions of both the National Bar Association and the Washington Bar Association.

My deepest condolences to the family. I taught at Emory for many years with Blanche. She was very knowledgeable, kind, and open to sharing her experiences with me. She will always be remembered.
