Billie's obituary
From his birth in West Green, Georgia on September 13, 1932, to his death on Sunday, his kind, caring nature continuously touched the lives of family and friends.
Bill spent his childhood in Douglas, Georgia, working hard to help support his family. He was a graduate of West Green High School, as well as Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia.
He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the Army. His adult life was spent in Albany, Georgia. He worked for Brooks Auto Parts as a Sales Representative for 44 years.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Clyde Courson; his brother, Clinton Courson; and stepson, David Holloway.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Courson; two children, Mary Elizabeth Taylor husband Gerald, and Bill Jr. Courson wife Shirley; stepson, Danny Holloway; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Chip, Billy III and Bobby Courson; step-grandchildren, Jessica Bates and Jamie Holloway; as well as a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Bill was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, as well as his compassionate spirit. During his final years, he suffered in silence, never complaining about his chronic pain. Every day, he made a conscious effort to tell family members, doctors, nurses, and caregivers how thankful and appreciative he was for their support.
For 59 years, his children were blessed to have known such a kind, gentle man who selflessly gave guidance, encouragement, and love to them. For 59 years, his children were proud to call him, “Daddy.” And, for the remainder of THEIR lives, he will continue to live in their hearts.
“Rest in Peace, Daddy. We love you.”
A graveside service with military honors will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Reverend Virgil Tillman officiating.
