In loving memory of Betty Jane Drayer 3/13/1928 - 4/7/2019. Born Betty Jane Baker in Los Angeles CA on 3/13/1928. She lived throughout Northern and Southern CA most of her life. She went to be with her Lord peacefully at home surrounded by family on 4/7/2019. Betty grew up riding horses and motorcycles and flying in planes with her father. She had a zest for life and adventure. Betty was known for her kindness, generous heart, love for her family, and love of Jesus. Although Betty moved around quite bit, she always found a way to be active in her local church. She taught Sunday school for more than 40 years and took every opportunity to share the love of Jesus. She was an entrepreneur, running her own food truck business for many years in the downtown and Port of San Diego areas. She would often give food from her truck to the homeless and while sharing the gospel. After her retirement, she moved to Texas to help care for her mother in law. While there she also taught Sunday school and volunteered her time at a local senior’s nursing home. Later she returned to California living in Indio with her daughter and son in law where she continued to teach Sunday school well into her 80’s. Betty is survived by her 5 children, Chuck Drayer, Bonnie Petri, Sandy Staight, Laurie Williams, and Jessie Valdez as well as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a shutterbug and would take photos of anything and everything and everyone. She documented everything in photographs to preserve our family's memories, meticulously writing names, dates and places on the photos so that future generations could put together our family history. Betty was gentle, loving and totally supportive of her family. They knew, without a doubt, she loved them unconditionally.
