Bette Courtney, our belated grandmother, died on December 27, 2009, just about three weeks after her 83rd birthday, in Sacramento, California. Her story begins on December 5, 1926, in Oklahoma, which was the day she was born to two loving parents, Rose and DJ. In 1934, they dust bowl came and ruined her family’s home several times.
